Piano
"I want these lessons to be a source of inspiration—something that helps you connect with the joy that made you want to play music in the first place. Whether you’re just starting out or picking it back up after some time away, I’ll meet you where you are now and help you grow from there. For me, it’s not just about just getting better—it’s about falling in love with playing music ."
Private Lessons
Private piano lessons are all about you—your pace, your interests, and your goals. In our one-on-one time together, you’ll get personalized attention without the pressure of sticking to rigid repertoire or specific styles. Instead, we’ll focus on the music that excites and inspires you, while also building a strong foundation in technique, musical understanding, and healthy practice habits. You’ll have the chance to perform in low-pressure, supportive recitals throughout the year, and can even join online classes for extra connection and learning. Lessons are flexible, convenient, and designed to make learning piano something you genuinely look forward to. Let’s explore the magic of music together—one note at a time.

Teaching Is in My Bones
Hi, I’m Matt
Before moving to Old Town Fort Collins—the best town in the world—I spent eight years running and helping build Middle C Music, the largest music school and full service music store in Washington, D.C., growing it to serve over 600 students each week with 22 amazing teachers and a full staff. During that time, I worked intimately with dedicated teachers and thousands of students, learning exactly what parents value most in lessons and how to create an environment where students feel supported, motivated, and excited to learn.
My band Saffron Falls spent three weeks recording at The Blasting Room right here in Old Town Fort Collins, and ever since, I’ve dreamed of calling this place home. That dream came true in 2021, when I moved to Old Town and became General Manager at Clothes Pony. Many of you may know me from there—whether we were smiling and laughing together in the store or singing and dancing with JoJo at our Friday sing-alongs. My time there gave me the privilege of connecting with so many families in this community every single day.
When my health encouraged me to find work that kept me on my feet a little less, I saw the perfect opportunity to share what has been almost 40 years of music study and passion—especially with children, families, and anyone eager to bring more music into their lives. My lessons are flexible, welcoming, and built to fit real life—whether you’re starting fresh, coming back to the piano after time away, or looking to inspire your child with music that excites them.
I hope you’ll take a moment to learn more
I can’t wait to meet you.
—Matt

Lessons That Fit Your Life
Life is busy.
Between school, work, activities, and everything else families juggle, adding one more commitment can feel overwhelming. That’s why I’ve designed my piano lessons to be flexible, approachable, and centered on you.
Whether you’re looking for a regular weekly time or something more occasional, I’m here to make music fit naturally into your life—not the other way around. You can start with a single lesson, book as you go, or find a rhythm that works for your family's schedule. No long-term commitments. No pressure. Just the joy of learning music, one step at a time.
I believe lessons should feel inviting and manageable—not like another task on a long to-do list. My goal is to make this easy, welcoming, and above all... fun.
